Galatians 6:1, 9 “… if another believer is overcome by some sin, you who are godly should gently and humbly help that person back onto the right path. And be careful not to fall into the same temptation yourself.”
Over many years, I have made observation of believers faced with others in the ditch.
What I am referring to is our response as Christians when we observe others who have made their mistakes in life and find themselves in the ditch. The warnings by God are when you find your brother in the ditch of life to be careful how you respond lest you fall in.
This principal of ‘be careful lest you fall in too’, is reliable. I have seen so many a Christian leader who will criticize a fellow Christian when they fall into sin. They publicly ridicule. It is amazing that within a matter of the next few years the same critic falls in a similar fault or sin.
Jesus said to be careful about pointing out the speck that is in our neighbors eye when we have a log in our own eye.
Ultimately, we need to be very careful not to judge. Because in judging we often set ourselves up for our own catastrophic fall into the same weakness. The moral of the story is that we are to be helping others out of the ditch, not reminding them of where they are. They usually know that.
Today, pray that God will make you sensitive to the ditch time of others around you. Pray for conviction to be the helping hand that reaches down to help. Encouragement is a gift that will bless you and others.
Have a blessed day.
