He Keeps His Promise

Deuteronomy 7:9 “Understand, therefore, that the Lord your God is indeed God. He is the faithful God who keeps his covenant for a thousand generations and lavishes his unfailing love on those who love him and obey his commands.”

Do you ever wonder how your life experience is viewed by God, the Creator of the Universe?  Yes, He is truly God. The scripture tells us that your God is indeed God.

Repeatedly through the Old Testament, we see the Israelites’ story. The nation of Israel is blessed. Then, the nation of Israel falls into fear and then doubt. They are corrected. They turn back to God. They repent of their doubt and fear, and again, they are blessed.

Do these series of events remind you of someone else? Yes, each of us have a tendency to go through the same series of hills and valleys in our life. As you read through the Old Testament, you actually keep wondering how in the world it is that they never learned the lesson to stand steadfast in their faith.

promiseI think the key is exactly what scripture says, that their failure arose because they did not hold onto the promise of God that He never breaks his promise.

That’s why it’s so important that we, as believers, look for the promises God has given us and hold to those. Because He is indeed God.  The fact that He promises to keep His promises is a foundational principle for today and forever.

Today, you may be experiencing those feelings of fear and doubt. When those come upon you, reach out to the promises God has given you in scripture — promises that He willbuild you up and will never forsake you. Promises that you are his child forever.

Look for those promises. Write them down, and claim them. Remember, He is the Ultimate Promise Keeper. His love is unfailing for you.

Have a blessed day.
