Can’t We All Just Get Along?

Romans 15:5 “May God, who gives this patience and encouragement, help you live in complete harmony with each other, as is fitting for followers of Christ Jesus.”

Have you ever attended a church where everyone has acted in perfect harmony, everyone got along with everyone else, and no one ever said anything bad about someone else in the church?  If you can think of that particular church, it’s probably one that you didn’t attend very regularly.

beautifulthingsIn the body of Christ, it is hard to find a group of people who all live in perfect harmony. There is always someone who doesn’t like someone. Always a person who feels that they have been spoken to rudely by another person.

So why does God tell us that we should live together in perfect harmony if it’s absolutely impossible to do?

There’s no doubt that outside the Spirit of God it is absolutely impossible. It is God who provides through the Holy Spirit encouragement and patience through us and for us to others that gives us the potential for harmony.

This is true whether we are in church, whether we are involved in a civic club, or at work.It never ends. We as believers face this harmony issue no matter what group we are impressed within.

But there is hope…

It all goes back to the words of encouragement and patience. The person in the workplace who is patient does not cause strife and produces forgiveness. The person who offers encouraging words to others will cultivate hope and joy.  You will stand out in the crowd if you are one of those who walks in God’s Spirit. It will give you the chance to witness and to spread the good news.

Have a blessed day.
