The Hidden Hurt

Job 3:3-4 “Let the day of my birth be erased, and the night I was conceived. Let that day be turned to darkness. Let it be lost even to God on high, and let no light shine on it.”

We recognize the obvious of physical disability and pain in others. But there are many around us who are on the edge of despair. For some even suicide.

fine

It’s more frequent than we can imagine. Truth be told, each of us, on a weekly frequency, cross paths with someone who is in emotional pain. Some who are even contemplating suicide.

In this passage, Job appears to voice subject matter that could be interpreted as suicidal ideation. There’s definitely a wish that his life could be finished. That is one depressed dude.

For us as believers, we are called to minister to the physically obvious. And likewise, we are to be sensitive in the Spirit to those who hurt in silence.

Ask God to open your eyes to the quiet emotional pain of depression that exists around you in others. No, you are not a psychiatrist or psychologist. But you are the Spirit of God in action. You are a word of encouragement. You’re the touch of the Savior.

Be sensitive. Be love.

Have a blessed day.
