Philippians 3:13-14 “No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.”
I have greatly enjoyed watching the Olympic events. I especially enjoy the track events. One event you will never see is a race where the contestants run backwards. It would probably be entertaining as a lot would end up on their tails.
But observation and experience tells us that our bodies are naturally made to move forward. It’s just the way God made us. Just as we naturally are made to move forward with our physical bodies, our spirits are made to move forward, too. For that reason we are impressed by God to refrain from looking behind as we are running the race.
Many look behind because of fear of the past, because of regret and guilt. No matter what the reason is, it is not good. Looking at the past only delays achieving the goal before us in Christ.
Today, proclaim a commitment to press forward. To not look behind nor dwell in the past.
To embrace that God has called you to run and win.
Have a blessed day.
