1 Kings 18:46 “Then the Lord gave special strength to Elijah. He tucked his cloak into his belt and ran ahead of Ahab’s chariot all the way to the entrance of Jezreel.”
The distance from Mount Carmel to Jezreel was around 17 miles. Not only did Elijah trot that far, but he also outran a horse! I mean this guy was the ultimate ironman. He had such amazing empowerment. You would think nothing could stop this guy.
Then came Jezebel. Just a threatening word from this woman changed Elijah into emotionally overwhelmed and ready to die.
So, why did God not send a band of angels to cheer Elijah up? Couldn’t He touch Elijah emotionally and it would all just be okay? I mean, He had no problem providing him with super human physical power. Why not supernatural emotional power, too?
I believe God will intervene in your life, sometimes in an immediate and dramatic way. But often, He takes you through a process that shapes you just as the refinement of gold. It is not instantaneous. But it creates in you a shaping and change into His image that may not be able to occur any other way. The experience is essential to transforming you into His image.
Today, know that emotional pain from your experience in life is real. But, no matter how alone you may feel, just like Elijah, God is there as He transforms you into His image.
Christ endures with you, all the way to the end of your race.
Have a blessed day.
