Why Wait?

Psalms 27:14 “Wait patiently for the Lord . Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.”

I am one who likes to make decisions quickly, whether it be in my business or personal life. I’m also quick to admit that has not always been the best course.

timingFor me, the only other alternative course is to often spend too much time ruminating over what the decision should be. I just don’t like to wait.

Repeatedly, we see God telling us as believers that we should wait on Him. Wait to hear His voice.  Wait to hear His guidance.

In the Old Testament, we see the nation of Israel repeatedly confronted with the failure of being impatient and consequences of not waiting on God to speak. When Moses was preparing to ascend the mount to receive the Ten Commandments, the Israelites only had one thing to do, and that was to wait for Moses to return with instructions from God.

They couldn’t wait.

Jesus repeatedly asked His disciples to wait. Patience was more than they could endure.

Based on my life, I can understand the difficulties of waiting on God. I’m worried that the inability to make a quick decision and then move forward will make me look weak. But I also recognize that waiting on God builds faith, and it leads us to the right decisions — the decisions that will bring honor and glory to Jesus Christ.

There is no doubt that the world will often see the believer who follows Christ as being weak.

“God tells us that in our weakness, that He is strong. That His power works best in our weakness.” I Corinthians 12:8-10

No doubt, It takes faith to wait on God. But God says He will help you with that, too.
Today, resolve yourself to listen to God and wait with patience for His instruction. He will intervene at just the right time. And you will be blessed in His strength.

Have a blessed day.
