1 Corinthians 6:19-20 “Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.”
This morning, Sesena was very slow to get up. She is now approximately one week since her surgery, and evidently she’s gotten something in her eye that we had to flush out this morning. It was almost swollen shut. You could tell, despite all we did to care for her, that she was just uncomfortable. Despite her eagerness to get to the truck for her ride to work, we decided she needed a day of rest.
Each of us who journey down the path God has given us will experience days that we have to take care of ourselves. It’s easy to push and push and push and then physically find ourselves stressed to the maximum. We can physically and mentally pay the price of wear-and-tear. We may have good intentions to work hard and never give up. But nonetheless, it still can have the effect of being just too much.
That’s why we have to take those times for rest and to remember that our bodies are precious to God just as our Spirits are. He paid a price for us, and we do not belong to ourselves but rather to Him.
Today, Sesena is going to spend the day laying on her silk pillow on the bed for a day of rest so that tomorrow she will hopefully be ready to go again.
Today, you may need to be in a time of rest. Don’t be afraid to give yourself a break. You are truly a vessel who is Holy, the temple of God. Take care of yourself. I guarantee that is God’s will for you.
Have a blessed day.
