The Closet Christian

Psalms 26:12  “Now I stand on solid ground, and I will publicly praise the Lord.”

During significant times in my life, I have been guilty of being a “Closet Christian.” Whether it be because of the crowd that we are with or the business we are in, we find ourselves finding it best to keep our beliefs to ourselves.

closetThere may be many reasons that we find ourselves in that trap.  At some point, it often just seems to be comfortable.  I’ve heard people justify this for many reasons such as  they don’t want to offend someone else.  They feel you shouldn’t talk it, but rather, you should live it. They live their Christian experience in silence hoping that the world around them will simply see God at work.

The point is that we need to do both. If we remain silent in word, we miss opportunities to witness to the world around us. If we say the right words but don’t live in the Spirit, the words we speak may have no impact.

Even if you are afraid to speak and witness, start by getting a pocketful of scriptures about God’s hope, His love, and His gift. Then, give them to others.

Your words and your actions work together.

Have a blessed day.
