Isaiah 12:4-5 In that wonderful day you will sing: “Thank the Lord ! Praise his name! Tell the nations what he has done. Let them know how mighty he is!” Sing to the Lord, for he has done wonderful things. Make known his praise around the world.
For the Cub fans, 108 years is over. However sweet the victory, there are some individuals who will stand out for even more. One of those is the left fielder for the Cubs, Ben Zobrist. Ben is a dedicated believer in Jesus Christ who shares his relationship both on and off the field.
Ben became a Christian at an early age. He played baseball in all four years of high school and says that in his senior year, without any college offers to play, “I hit my knees in prayer and said, ‘Okay, Lord, whatever You want me to do and for whatever reason You are allowing this fear into my life, I want You to take it away. My life is Yours, and I am not trying to be in charge. As for sports, You can have that, too.’ I gave everything over to Him. If God wants me to do something else with my life, then that is where I want to be.”
Since that day, wherever Ben has found himself, whether it be on the up or the down, he has demonstrated a spirit of living as an ambassador for Christ. Being awarded the MVP trophy at the conclusion of game seven, I’m sure meant so much to Ben and his family. But the encouragement he’s brought to fellow believers cannot be measured.
Thank you, Ben, for your commitment to Christ. What a wonderful demonstration you’ve shown of what can happen when you give it all over to God. God bless Ben, and God bless the cause of Christ.
Have a blessed day.
