1 Corinthians 13:6-7 “Love is not happy with evil. But it is full of joy when the truth is spoken. It always protects. It always trusts. It always hopes. It never gives up.”
I used to always be puzzled to see parents who continued to invest their time and efforts in a child who persisted on a path of bad choices. This not only occurs in relationships between children and parents, but between many friends as well.
We so often have family and friends in our life who we will try to guide and counsel. Sometimes, we even invest in them financially. We think that we’re making a difference only to find that they turn back to their ways of drugs or other poor choices.
I’ve always had an attitude that at some point you just have to get off a sinking ship because you just can’t save everyone.
But the Bible does not contain a three-strikes-and-you’re-out rule. Christ’s love is never-ending. As Believers we are to love them with the love of Christ. We have have no other option.
Christ taught if someone asks for your shirt, give him your coat, too. Our love is to be without measure. It doesn’t lose trust, it doesn’t lose hope. It always protects. And, yes, it never gives up.
Have a blessed day!
