Ephesians 5:1 – “Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children.”
I remember a movie several years ago with Jim Carrey who was given the powers of God while God took a vacation. It was a really good comedy. Ultimately the powers that Jim Carrey receive from God were misused.
It obviously caused Carrey’s character great problems until God returned and took back His powers. But there were lessons to be learned about the needs of others around him — that more than anything, they needed not his help but his love.
God tells us in Scripture that we as believers should imitate Himself, God. And then He ultimately brings it back to being filled and walking in love. Ultimately, we as believers, above everything else, want God to love us. It’s great to get physical blessings, but ultimately, we all hunger for the same thing which is God’s love and acceptance.
So, how do we imitate God as believers? Through love and acceptance of others, no matter what their position or status is in life.
Today above all that you do to serve others, show them your love and acceptance. Be an imitator.
Have a blessed weekend!
