John 8:12 “Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.”
I remember some years ago taking my granddaughter, Isabella, on a day trip to a nearby cavern in Alabama. The tour started in a theater room in the cavern. We were seated in the center. The lights on the cavern ceiling illuminated the rock formation. Truly beautiful.
Suddenly, the lights were turned off! Total darkness.
You could see nothing. Not even the person sitting next to you. My granddaughter grabbed hold of my arm and held fast. “I can’t see, Papa!”
In our modern age, we seldom experience total darkness. There is always some nightlight somewhere. For most of us, darkness means the room is not well lit. Being exposed to total darkness helps us understand the state of feeling helpless and out of control.
Christ came to redeem us to live in light. Without Him, we are in total darkness and separated from God. As believers, we can walk each day in the presence of God in His light and His involvement in every moment of our life.
Today, praise God for His wonderful gift that allows you to walk out of darkness and into light — to walk by His side.
Today, don’t waste your new life. Turn on the light.
Have a blessed day!
