1 Peter 5:9 “Resist him (Satan), standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.”
I remember one of my favorite sitcoms from many years ago. Norm, one of the favorites at the Cheers establishment, walked through the door as the barkeep asked, “Hey, Norm. How are you?”
His response was, “It’s a dog-eat-dog world out there, and I’m wearing Milk-Bone underwear.”
Although this may not be the best way to start out a devotional for the day, it does illustrate something that we often have a tendency to feel: It’s a war out there, and Satan is out to get, and I mean, just me.
The great part is that you’re not alone. The bad part is that it’s still you.
Today when you’re feeling beat down by the world, remember that your story doesn’t end with verse 9, but rather you have to read verse 10 as well… “And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.”
Satan may be able to attack us, but he can never really win.
Have a blessed day!
