Don’t Stop Knocking

Luke 11:9-10 “And so I tell you, keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.  For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.”

The Bible describes our Father as a gracious Lord who freely answers our requests. But it also describes that we should be tenacious in our requests to the Lord. That we shouldn’t just knock once then turn around and leave. That we should rather knock and then knock some more as we seek our requests before God.

Christ told the parable of the woman who repeatedly returned before the judge making her requests known. Finally the judge granted those requests because he got so tired of her coming back. She was tenacious.

Jesus was approached by a  woman seeking His help. In response, she stated that even the dogs eat the crumbs from the Master’s table. She wouldn’t stop knocking.

God doesn’t want us to come to the door and knock once and then in discouragement turn around and leave. But rather knock and knock and knock some more.

You see, when company comes who are strangers, they may knock once and then leave. Why?  Because there is no relationship with the owner of the house. But when family comes, they know the owners. If necessary, they start screaming for the owner to come to the door. Why?  Because they know the people that live inside. There’s a sense that they belong there.

Likewise, God wants us to know that we belong in His house. We should seek our requests from God with a sense of faith. That absolutely God is going to come to the door and be happy to see us.  That creates confidence and faith.

Keep on knocking.

Have a blessed weekend!
