Mark 12:16 “When they handed it to him, he asked, “Whose picture and title are stamped on it?” “Caesar’s,” they replied.”
We all remember this story. Religious leaders were trying to fool Jesus. Should we pay taxes?
Jesus’ ultimate reply was, “Give to Caesar what bears his picture and title.”
Once you become a parent, or definitely when you become a grandparent, your identity becomes linked to those little people in your life. In fact, we are all quick to pull out a wallet or a phone and show pictures of our grandchildren whenever we can. By doing so, we create as a part of our identity a reflection of that relationship with our children and grandchildren. It becomes who we are and who we want to portray as our identity.
The question I have for you is what picture and title do you bare? Is it a dollar? Is it a black credit card? Is it your alma mater? Or is it something else?
As Christians, we are to bare the image, the picture, and the title of Christ. Remember, being a follower of Christ is a path choice. You are saved because you have been born again. You are a Christian because you are a follower.
So, whose name do you bare? Are you proud to show another person about you friendship with Jesus?
Start today. It’s an experience that begins anew every morning for you.
Have a blessed day!
