Live Free

Galatians 5:1 – “Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.”

zombieMy grandson loves to watch the Living Dead. I don’t understand what it is about the zombies he likes so much. But I do understand that a large part about what the movie concerns are the lives of those who are not zombies are surrounded by zombies.

I’ve often wondered what it would be like to be a zombie, then to be cured and made human again, but still pretend that you’re a zombie. Possibly just so that you can fit in. Possibly because you became so used to many years of walking around like a zombie.

I know this sounds ridiculous, but for us as Christians, there are so many of us who live just like as I’ve described. They were zombies, they got cured from being zombies, now they’re human, but they still pretend to walk the earth just like all the other zombies.

newThe Bible tells us that once we are made a new by Christ, once we are born again, we are new creatures. We are no longer zombies.

But for so many of us, we eventually drift into walking around just like all the other zombies. Just like the living dead who have not been made alive in Jesus Christ.

This takes a daily commitment in our walk. We must be committed in our mind, in our heart, and in our soul that we are free. We live in liberty with Jesus Christ as new creatures. Dead to this world and the bondage of sin and free to live in liberty as the glorious new creatures we have become.

I wish you just had to say that one time and it would make every day perfect, but it’s something you have to do on a daily basis to shake off the stress, pressure, and burden of the world, to recognize that you’re standing in liberty and freedom.

Enjoy your today. No longer are you a zombie.

Have a blessed weekend!
