2 Peter 2:19 “… For you are a slave to whatever controls you.”
Although this statement is short, it’s a profound one that is so very true. Anything that controls us, we are a slave to.
Whether it be alcohol, drugs, or food, etc., you can become a slave.
I remember years ago speaking to an entrepreneur about his take on success. Early in his career, he’d been involved in the wine cooler industry. He had made millions.
In commenting on the summation of his knowledge and experience, he told me, “Give me something that I can manufacture for a dime, advertise for a nickel, that’s addictive to the masses, and I’ll make you rich.”
Sounds pretty good at first until you think it through.
I bet we can all think of a laundry list of things in and around us that may meet this description. That doesn’t make them all evil. It just needs to be in our awareness as believers that Christ has gone to great sacrifice to set us free.
Don’t give up your freedom. If anything, let’s be slaves for Christ.
Have a blessed day!
