Don’t Be Afraid to Pick

1 Thessalonians 5:19-22 – “Do not restrain the Holy Spirit; do not despise inspired messages. Put all things to the test: keep what is good and avoid every kind of evil.”

gemsI have never been afraid of work. No matter how nasty or dirty, I’ve never avoided the call.

I’ve picked grapefruit, I’ve nailed shingles, and I’ve shoveled barn waste.  No matter how nasty the job, I can say there’s always been something to learn that would benefit me in the future.

The Bible tells us that no matter what we hear, read ,or experience, we should not turn our nose in judgement, but rather we should pick out the good and walk away from the bad.

In today’s world of evangelism and teaching, there are many who say different things. For us as believers, we cannot be afraid to dig in and pick out that which is good.

From some teachers and preachers, there may not be much to pick. But one gem is enough from a message to make it worthwhile. Those gems will eventually turn into a bagful that you can use on your journey with Christ.

Don’t be afraid to look.  The gems you will find will be worth it.

Have a blessed weekend!
