1 Corinthians 6:19-20 – “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.”
Yesterday, I cranked back up my exercises. I had been off for a couple weeks with a head cold. I started with doing 75 sit-ups. Today my stomach muscles are sore.
It’s always hard to find motivation to exercise. To watch what we eat. To get the right amount of rest. To take care of your body.
Many find their motivation based on what makes them feel better both emotionally and physically. For others, motivation is created by how they look in the mirror.
For the believer, Paul tells us a different point of view. We are temples. A place where God lives. None would think it proper to not take care of the church building. You have to maintain it. It takes a plan with regular attention to keep it all in order.
Likewise, our bodies need attention as temples of God. A plan with regular service and attention is essential to maintaining the temple.
Today, take time to make a plan. It may be very simple exercise, or it may be primarily driven by a diet. But nevertheless, it will honor what God has entrusted you with: A beautiful body that He even describes as his Temple.
We do not belong to ourselves. God has purchased us with a price.
Yes, you are special. Take care of your temple.
Have a blessed day!
