Get Up and Go To Church

Matthew 18:20 – “For where two or three come together in my name, I am there with them.”

As a youngster I remember mom shaking me out of bed on Sunday morning. Her words were always the same: “Time to get up Dean. You need to get up and get ready for church.”

churchMy response was usually one of a few:  “Mom I don’t feel good. I’m sick. My throat is sore. My head hurts. My stomach hurts.”

Her response: “Get up and get ready. You’ll feel better by the time you get to church.”

You know, my mom was wise.  Each and every time I got up and went to church, started interacting, singing, praying, and listening to God’s word, I would feel better. It was like I got healed and forgot about not feeling good.

I’m now old and I’m convinced there is something about interacting with God’s people that just makes you feel better.

This Sunday morning do not let your thoughts drift to “I am tired. I just don’t feel good. I can watch church on TV.”  Get your self out of bed and go hang out with God’s people. God promises He will be there too.

Have a blessed day.
